Fly-drive: create your own holiday

Fly-drive holidays start in Lisbon, Porto or the Algarve. You choose your accommodation in the place of arrival. After several days you drive to Batalha to stay at Casa Ceedina, then you travel to the next destination.

You will probably not need a car in the cities. The best way to travel in the cities is with public transport. We recommend you pick up the rental car or return it on departure or arrival in the city.

City break - Lisbon

This lively city is built on seven hills and has many attractions which can be reached easily by public transport or on foot. There are restaurants, cafes and bars where you can enjoy the local atmosphere. If you want to shop, Lisbon is the place. It is the capital of Portugal and divided into several districts.

Batalha and surrounding area

Batalha is located in central Portugal and the monastery here is the second most visited monument in Portugal. Due to the convenient location of Batalha other places of interest are easily accessible or you can just rest from your city visit.

Other attractions in the area are the monasteries of Tomar and Alcobaça and Fatima, a world famous pilgrimage place. You are half an hour’s drive from the beaches of Nazaré, São Pedro de Moel and São Martinho do Porto. In the countryside you can go hiking, mountain biking or visit the caves. The university city of Coimbra is under an hour away and can be easily reached from Casa Ceedina.

Batalha has several good restaurants, ranging from a trendy tapas bar to traditional restaurants where you can join the locals.

City trip - City break - Porto

Porto is famous for its wineries on the banks of the Douro and the impressive steel bridges over the river. The old town is situated on the right bank. Visit the port houses (Caves), the central station, the narrow streets with old buildings with 'azulejos' tiled facades.

The Algarve

This is the southern province of Portugal with over 80 km of coastline to the west of Faro. Well-known places are Albufeira, Lagos and Portimão dedicated to tourism. To the east of Faro is much quieter with lovely towns such as Monte Gordo and Tavira. The hilly interior is virtually untouched and quiet.
